Samuel Kalu Misses Bordeaux Win Due To ‘Knock’

Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu was missing in the line of duty for his club on Wednesday due to a ‘slight knock’ he copped in action against Paris Saint-Germain

Footballlive.ng gathered that the development meant the former KAA Gent of Belgium youngster could not line out for his side exciting 3-2 win against Saint-Etienne‎ in the French Ligue 1.

Bordeaux’s coach, Ricardo Gomes confirmed that Kalu got a knock after going on against PSG last weekend, and the Super Eagles’ rookie had to be excused from the midweek clash with Saint-Etienne.

Kalu’s name sake and fellow-Eagles’ rookie, Samuel Chukwueze had a different story in Spain, as the Villarreal winger played as a substitute in his side’s 8-0 win over Almeria in Copa del Rey.

Chukwueze, who scored in the first leg of the round, was introduced in the 71st minute for Javi Fuego, with scores at 6-0 in favour of his team.

The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation, who played the entire duration of Villarreal’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday, did not have much to do on Wednesday, as his side was already well ahead.

It meant The Yellow Submarine gained a place in the last eight of the Spanish Cup with an aggregate 11-3 win; after drawing the first leg 3-3.
