Rangers International of Enugu star, Bright Silas has disclosed the depth of his emotions, after hitting two goals that took his side into the second round of the CAF Confederations Cup against USM Bel Abbes of Algeria.
Following a goalless draw in the first leg the previous weekend, Silas’ double strike in a 2-0 win at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium helped The Flying Antelopes move on in the second-tier continental clubs’ competition.
Silas scored both goals for The Coal City side, as the former JUTH FC of Jos star opened scoring after six minutes before he doubled the lead in first half stoppage time, with an assist from ace defender, Isaac Loute.
The Algerians were reduced to 10 men on 90 minutes after Boualem got his second booking, and footballlive.ng reports that several Enugu soccer fans felt Rangers should have won with a wider margin.
Indeed, Rangers created many chances, but poor finishing or some resolute defending or good goalkeeping denied them a bigger win.
Ihjn the aftermath of the encounter, Silas said: “I am happy with the victory, and I thank God that I scored both goals.
“I thank God, the coaches, my teammates and the fans for making it possible. Now we will start playing for the second round.”
