Crotone of Italy striker, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) has confessed that he was excited more than even before to score his seventh goal in Serie A this past, weekend, as he believes it has further enhanced his chances of making it to this year’s World Cup.
Simy was overjoyed on a personal level, but admitted he was disappointed to see his side were forced to a 2-2 draw at home by Eddy Ogenyi Onazi’s former club, SS Lazio on Sunday.
Nwankwo restored parity for Crotone in the 29th minute after Senad Lulic had shot visitors Lazio into the lead in the third minute.
Federico Ceccherini gave Crotone the lead in the 61st minute but a late goal from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic four minutes from time salvaged a point for Lazio.
Crotone currently occupy the 18th position in the Serie A table with 35 points from 37 games with one game left to play.
Crotone must beat Napoli in their final league game next Sunday to avoid relegation. They will also hope SPAL 2013, in 17th position with a superior goal difference, fail to get a win at home to Sampdoria.
