Crystal Palace boss, Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the London club’s move to sign Liverpool striker, Dominic Solanke this week has fallen out of the window, due top the player’s poor fitness level.
Despite all hoopla and fanfare that heralded Solanke’s arrival at Selhurst Park on Sunday, ahead of his medicals on Monday, footballlive.ng learnt that The Eagles will no longer finalise a deal with the Nigerian-born lad.
This comes after a confirmation by Hodgson that Palace cannot sign the England under-21 star, despite having earlier edge aside competition from Huddersfield Town, Fulham and Brighton.
The out of favour Liverpool starlet was heavily linked with a switch to Selhurst Park and reportedly underwent a medical examination.
However, a last-minute decision by Palace chiefs saw the club pull the plug on the deal, which Hodgson said is unfortunate.
The former England gaffer expatiated: ”We were interested of course. We think he is a good player.
“It turns out there were complications, a lot of factors involved in it, and the club decided it wasn’t the right moment for us to be doing it.
“It seems to be. Unfortunately it is a club decision. I feel disappointed for the player, because he had made his mind up in our favour.
“It looked as though it was going to work out, but it didn’t work out in the end.”
