In a commanding display at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Sporting Lagos secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Kwara United, extending their impressive home record with a fifth consecutive win.
Sporting Lagos wasted no time asserting their dominance as Pascal Durugbor broke the deadlock in the 8th minute, putting his side ahead early in the game and setting the tone.
As the first half progressed, Sporting Lagos continued to apply pressure, and their efforts were rewarded in the 43rd minute when Aliu Salaudeen rose highest to head in from a corner, doubling Sporting Lagos’ lead and further tightening their grip on the match.
In the second half, Kwara United rallied to find a way back into the game, creating several scoring opportunities and testing the Sporting Lagos defense. However, Sporting Lagos goalkeeper Christian Nwoke proved to be a formidable barrier, making a series of crucial saves to deny Kwara United any chance of mounting a comeback. Nwoke’s heroics ensured Sporting Lagos maintained their clean sheet and preserved their two-goal lead until the final whistle.
Sporting Lagos with their recent win have now lifted themselves another place higher into 11th place, with 34 points from 26 games.
While Kwara United sit 16th with 29 points from 25 games.
