Sunshine Stars attacking midfielder Ekundayo Ojo has urged fans to stick with their darling team in the 2018 season.

The Owena Whales are in the bottom four with 28 points after 24 matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Stars are preparing for their next NPFL match against Abia Warriors but there was concerns from some fans of the team on their survival hopes.

Ojo told Footballlive.ng: “Even after 24 games everyone is disappointed, the fans are disappointed, the players are disappointed, it is very easy to give up and just say that we are not good enough.

“We definitely believe we are good enough to do the job. We want the fans to keep the faith and I’m sure sooner rather than later, we will get there.

“It is very hard right now. But we have the chance to right our wrongs when the league resumes.”

“Abia Warriors will be the first to be defeated by us and from there we will take it from there.”

Stars are 18th on the NPFL standings with 28 points from 24 games.
