Interim Head Coach of Sunshine Stars FC has blamed unfavorable weather for the barren draw against NNL outfit, Supreme Court FC in the AITEO Cup
Speaking to www.footballive.ngfter the game, Coach Abiodun said, “The weather condition was not favourable to us at all. We play against the wind all through the first half, then we had the rain and a slippery turf to contend with in the second half.”
The coach went on to lament on the tactics employed by the opponents which he said was planned in order to waste time as the team from Abuja were always hoofing the ball and his team spent most of the time trying to gather the ball and play it on the floor.
He also hoped his players would have made the most of one or two clear opportunities they created with the style of game adopted which was to build the game up and try to get the ball forward as quickly as possible.
Dismissing claims that his players underrated the opponents, he said, “Whoever underrates Supreme Court FC lacks an understanding of football because they defeated a top NPFL club and then Shooting Stars Sport Club to get this far in the competition which goes to show that Supreme Court FC are a formidable outfit.”
Coach Abiodun concluded by saying that starting with a draw was not the worst result as they had worked on their errors and are focused on the game against El-Kanemi Warriors which he described as a must win for his team.
