Super Eagles earn narrow victory against Liberia in Monrovia

The Super Eagles dominated and deservedly defeated their Liberian counterparts 2-1 in an international friendly that took place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on Tuesday night.

In a game played with electrifying pace in Monrovia, the Gernot Rohr managed side showed superiority with victory against the Lone Star.

Henry Onyekuru and Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo found the back of the net for the Eagles in the entertaining game.

The match was played in honour of Liberian President George Weah whose legendary jersey number 14 was retired tonight.

Galatasaray winger Onyekuru showed a touch of class to put the Eagles in front with a superb goal. He found space before shooting to the top corner of the post.

Lone striker Simeon aka Simy added gloss to the scoreline with a brilliant header that doubled Nigeria’s advantage in front of the appreciative spectators.

Liberia scored a consolation in the 89th minute of the game.
