Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi helps Kaizer Chiefs to vital win in PSL

Date:

Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was in full time action for Kaizer Chiefs in their 3-2 home win against Highlands Park on Saturday.

The 32-year-old was making his third consecutive start for the Amakhosi as they continue their chase for the PSL title.
In the 39th minute, the Amakhosi were ahead when Bernard Parker rolled in a loose ball from inside the box at the Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban).
However, Bevan Fransman nodded in from calamitous defending to restore parity for the visitors five minutes before the break.
Ntiya-Ntiya’s arrival at the beginning if the second half livened up the match, as Castro restored the Amakhosi’s advantage three minutes to half with a simple finish from close range.
The Lions of the North struggled to find a way back and Dumisani Zuma compounded their misery with a thumping finish from close-range in the last 19 minutes.
However, Lesenya Ramoraka handed the visitors a lifeline with a deft left-footed finish in the last ten minutes to set up a nervy final few minutes.
The win lifts Kaizer Chiefs to fifth in the PSL table with 32 points from 22 games.
