Nigeria is bound to enter the last phase of preparations for this year’s World Cup static on the monthly FIFA rankings, as a sneak preview of the latest ratings from the global soccer governing body show that the Super Eagles’ position will be unchanged when the table is made public on Thursday.
Based on the prognosis tools, the Super Eagles are static meaning they retained their global position of 47th, while they are sixth in the continental ranking with a possible ranking points of 635.
Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco and Egypt are the top five teams in Africa in that order, while Nigeria’s three rivals in the group stage of Russia 2018 World Cup – Argentina, Croatia and Iceland – are expected to sit in the 5th, 18th and 22nd place respectively in the new rankings.
Africa’s top-10 has Tunisia – 1,012 points, Senegal – 825 points, Congo DR – 711 points, Morocco – 681 points, Egypt – 636 points, Nigeria – 635 points, Cameroon – 603 points, Ghana – 603 points, Burkina Faso – 582 points, and Cape Verde Islands – 545 points.
