Former Nigerian international, Taribo West has indicated that Nigeria lost yesterday’s final before they stepped on the pitch.
The reactions have been pouring since the final whistle blew at the Alassane Outtara Stadium, indicating that Ivory Coast won their third AFCON title at the expense of Nigeria’s fourth.
Taribo West has now weighed in on the super eagles’ display in the final and he stated that the bench to work better and they should be held responsible for the loss.
In his exact words, the former defender said:
“I think the game was lost in the dressing room before match start. I expected the bench to work better and i hold them responsible. I can pick instances from our time, Algeria ’90 was one. We lost in the group stage 5-1, but when we met again, it was a different ball game although we lost 1-0”
“The coach should’ve employed a different strategy against the Ivorian team. The Ivory coast they played in the group stages was not the same as the final, including the coach. The eagles met a different Ivorian team and everybody was behind them”.
