Trabelsi: Expect Counter-attacks On Saturday

Date:

Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr’s foreign assistant, Nabel Trabelsi has come out with his technical permutations for Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, and says he expects the visitors from Libya to play a game of counter-attacks.

However, the Tunisian former international, who is now a video analyst for Rohr, said the Libyans will not just sit back and soak pressure, as he expects them to mix both defensive and attacking tactics together.

While recounting how Libya played out a goalless draw away to South Africa to top Group E, Trabelsi admitted that The Mediterranean Knights are a team to be reckoned with.

He, however, expressed delight that the match will hold on natural grass at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where he believes the Eagles would be able to dominate the game and diffuse whatever Libya try to; but equally acknowledged that the job will not come easy.

Trabelsi concluded that Eagles want to compensate the Uyo fans after losing their opening match in the AFCON qualifiers to South Africa in June 2017.

Trabelsi added: ”The Libyan team is a strong and respectable team that deserves all the attention. We will work for it.

”I saw the Libyan team in a different and new version and with a flourish and a human balance of professional players ready to deal with all the conditions.

“It is a balanced defensive and offensive team. It knows how to defend and how to perform fast counter-attacks. Respect and caution and then beware of their surprises.

”We are facing an important and decisive week that we are prepared for. The Super Eagles fans were angry following our shock loss in the opening round against South Africa.

“We have to focus on all aspects in order to get closer to the competition and win one of the two qualifiers for the next AFCON.”
