Ugwueze, Uwumiro – Rangers Won’t Underrate Zilimadjou in Uyo Clash

Date:

Captain of Rangers International, Ugwueze Chinemerem, and forward, Frank Uwumiro, have reassured fans of a strong performance in the second leg of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League preliminary round against US de Zilimadjou of Comoros Islands.

Speaking ahead of the fixture scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Ugwueze emphasized the team’s readiness to secure progression to the next round.

“Since the end of the first leg, which we won by God’s special grace, we have shifted our preparation gear to the next level, which I believe will see us through the second leg.

Yes, we won the first leg but are not underrating our opponents rather, we are more focused and determined to play a good game and win well for our teaming fans and supporters.”

Echoing his captain’s sentiments, Uwumiro, who scored the winning goal in the first leg, acknowledged the challenges faced but expressed confidence in the team’s improved readiness.

“Our opponents are the champions of their country, and they showed some stuff in the first leg, but with what we have been going through after that encounter, I am very optimistic of a good second leg which we are hosting.”

The ‘Flying Antelopes’ will face the Comoros Islands champions, US de Zilimadjou, in the return leg of the first preliminary round of Africa’s premier club competition.

The match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with kickoff set for 15:00 hours on Friday, August 23, 2024.
