Alex Iwobi is becoming a bigger influence at Arsenal under Unai Emery than he was in the era Arsene Wenger and the numbers prove it.
Iwobi has consistently been a top performer playing in the same position but with a different responsibility and style of management.
The latest of them being his solid 71 minutes in the Europa League win 3-0 over Qarabag in Baku, where he also put in an assist for a significant goal by Emily Smith-Rowe.
Iwobi has come a long way in a short time from the constant criticism from fans after every game – win or lose – so much so now that he’s in contention for the Arsenal player of the month (September).
So far, the Gunners are on a run of eight wins with Emery injecting a different level of competitiveness to the team.
