Deportivo La Coruna of Spain team-B goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho says he can fit into Nigeria’s first choice shot-stopper’s role at this year’s Word Cup because he has learnt from mistakes he committed in his couple of caps with the Super Eagles.
Though many observers think he is inexperienced, being only 19-years-old and with only two appearances in the senior national team, Uoho insists he is ready for the World Cup.
In the absence of the experienced duo of Vincent Enyeama and Carl Onuoha Ikeme, Uzoho is now battling for a place on the final squad to Russia 2018 along with Dele Ajiboye, Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
However, the UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets’ back-up keeper said all four of the shot-stoppers in the Eagles’ camp are up to the task of doing well in Russia.
Uzoho has only managed two and half friendlies with the Eagles, but said he has learnt a lot and added from the coaches’ instructions in training for him to now do well in Russia.
“I am ready for World Cup. I learnt a lot in the two and half friendlies with the Super Eagles. I made mistakes and learnt from my mistakes and I’m ready for the big competition.
“The goalkeepers are all good. Nigerians should just have more confidence in us,” Uzoho concluded.
