Nigeria’s youth national team coach, Paul Aigbogun has kept through to his promise to invite some of the country’s overseas-born players, as he has extended a call to Watford of England youngster, Jayden Bennetts for the 2018 WAFU U20 Nations Cup.
Bennetts is now expected to join Aigbogun’s camp in Abuja this week, as Watford have given him permission to make the trip and train with the squad during the international break.
Bennetts, who was born in Barnet to a Nigerian father and German mother, is an attacking midfielder who can also play as a striker and he’s creative around the penalty area.
Bennetts’ impressive form for Watford U18s convinced Aigbogun to give him a chance to fight for a spot in the team before the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
So far this season, Bennets, who cites Chelsea’s Eden Hazard as his role model, has scored four goals in 12 appearances for Watford U18s.
