We lost to a more superior team, says Seychelles vice captain Bertrand Esther

Date:

Assistant captain of Seychelles, Bertrand Esther has admitted that his team lost to a “more superior” opponent in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification match on Saturday.

The Pirates were at the receiving end of a 3-0 mauling by Nigeria in a Group E match at the Stade Linite.

Central defender Bertrand Esther who featured for the entire match duration says it was a good learning curve for the minnows.

“It was a good game and learning curve for us. We knew it was going to be difficult,” the veteran defender told Footballlive.ng after the match.

“Compared to what we played against Libya we improved against Nigeria.”

The experienced central defender admitted they faced a superior team on Saturday.

“The Super Eagles are a very good team, they were very patient with their build up and approach to the game. They were more superior,” he admitted.

“They always kept the ball and created chances. We lost due to lack of concentration in the first half.

With the Pirates due to face Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the game 3 and 4 respectively, Bertrand Esther declared that they will be ready.

“We have enough time to prepare for South Africa. We hope to be ready for what awaits us over the two legs,” he concluded.
