HNK Gorica of Croatia defender, Musa Muhammed is happy to get a late call-up to the Super Eagles, as his name has been included in the list of invitees to battle South Africa and Uganda this month.
Although many observers believe Mohammed’s name was only included as an after-thought, the youngster acknowledged that it is better late than never and pledged to make the best of the chance.
Footballlive.ng reports that this comes after Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr said the former Golden Eaglets’ skipper was omitted from the original list by error.
Rohr was not happy with Mohammed’s non-inclusion in Monday’s list, as the Franco-German tactician says the full back should have been included in the list for the matches against South Africa and Uganda.
Rohr said it was a typing error that left out Muhammed’s name from the standby segment of the roster that was made public on Monday, and subsequently moved quickly to rectify the situation.
This is sequel to an earlier declaration by Rohr that he will give the youngster a look in because he was able to get a bigger club in the transfer window.
Rohr stated back then: “Some players like Musa Mohammed who were not playing at their clubs made moves to team where they are going to get games; that will work in our favour in the national team.”
