No Goal, No Win for Odion Ighalo in China

Date:

Odion Ighalo ended up on the losing side for the 10th time this season with Changchun Yatai as they fell to a heavy 3-1 defeat against Shanghai SIPG on Saturday.

Ighalo has made 23 league appearances for Yatai; every single league game, and he’s scored 17 times but not Today as he was shut out by the more superior SIPG.

Saturday’s game was a real test as Yatai faced the League leaders, and if there were questions they’d be punching above their weight, it was true and the visitors found out quite early, and quite grimly.

Former Chelsea midfielder, Oscar opened scoring inside 12 minutes and 9 minutes later Yatai were two goals down.

They managed to halve the deficit in additional time of the first-half, but there was more woes in the restart as the home side restore their two-goal lead and close the game with a fourth consecutive win.

Despite the defeat, Changchun Yatai are still 7th in the Chinese Super League.
