FC Midtjylland of Denmark forward, Paul Onuachu has missed out on the chance of becoming the next Nigerian to play for Racing Genk of Belgium, as officials at his club snubbed a formal offer for his switch.
Footballlive.ng gathered that, while Onuachu could have followed both Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Marvin Ogunjimi in the roll call of Nigerians to don Genk’s jersey, Midtjylland refused to play ball with the Belgians.
Consequently, Onnuachu is staying put in the Danish city of Henning, but Midtjylland will still have to work hard on keeping him beyond the January transfer window, as he is still attracting interest from Belgium.
Howver, in their bid to keep the long-serving Onuuachu for another season, FCM have blocked Genk from the lanky attacker, despite their fat offer of a transfer for between four and five million euros.
The 24-year-old Onuachu, who has been at Midtjylland since 2012, has a total of 66 goals and 22 assists in 166 appearances for the top-flight Danish side, and eleven hitys on target so far this season.
