Rohr: Lookman’s Reluctant For Eagles’ Switch

Date:

Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr says he has his eyes fully focused on Everton winger, Ademola Lookman for an invitation to the Nigerian national team, but says the former RB Leipzig of Germany lad is not keen on making the switch.

Wandsworth Town-born Lookman has played for England at U19, U20 and U21 levels, such that he has strong prospects of stepping up to the senior team, while Rohr also noted that it will take a long process to make the rising star eligible for Nigeria.

Lookman was part of England’s squad that woin last year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup and is set to feature for The Young Lions again at next year’s European U21 Championship, all of which make Rohr suggest that the youngster has not shown interest to play for Nigeria at senior level.

Rohr said: ”Lookman is on our list. He is a good player and very fast too. I would be happy if he can show enough interest to join the Super Eagles because we will have many options in the attack of the team.

”I am aware that the NFF is working out something but you know that Lookman has played for England’s U-19, U-20 and U-21 teams, so there are processes to be done to make him eligible to play for us.

”Lookman also has to decide on time because the NFF has to process his authorization from FIFA, and he must prove that he is better than the players already in the team.”
